Illustrative demo. The Alder Springs Police Department is a fake department, made up by Draft X for illustrative purposes. Its records and everyone named in them are fictional. The body camera videos are real public releases from the American Fork (Utah) Police Department, redacted here by Draft X: Officer Jensen body camera, case 26AF02066 and Officer Tonga body camera, case 26AF01974.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to say why I want the records?

No. You don't need to give a reason. Telling us what the records are about — the date, place and what happened — is what helps us find them.

Why are parts of my records redacted?

State law protects some information about private individuals, such as faces of bystanders, home addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and driver license numbers. We redact that information and release the rest. Your release letter lists what was redacted and why.

How long will it take?

We acknowledge every request right away and respond within 10 business days. Video takes longer because every frame is reviewed before release. If we need more time, we'll tell you on your request's status page.

What does it cost?

Fees are listed in the request form's terms. Searches of up to two hours are free. We'll tell you before any fee is charged.

Can I get records about an open investigation?

Some records in an active investigation may be withheld until the case is closed. We'll tell you if that applies and what we can release now.
